My main scientific
interest is in microorganisms that thrive in extreme environments,
especially halophilic and psychrophilic Bacteria and Archaea. Specific
molecular adaptations allow these microorganisms to survive harsh
conditions. Understand fundamentals of cellular function reveals new
opportunities for sustainable exploitation.
Actually I am working in my Doctoral thesis based on the study of
molecular biostabilizers from novel halophilic bacteria isolated from
the Atacama Desert in Chile.
My experience is on Isolation and cultivation of halophilic and
psychrophilic microorganisms, bidimensional analysis of proteins,
molecular Identification and classification of Bacteria and Archaea,
purification and analysis of bacterial metabolites.
